I'm going to Death Valley in a few weeks. The closest I've been was a stop on the Bonneville Salt Flats on my way to California, so this is a new area for me. Have any of you been there?

Weather permitting, you can see the highest point in the lower 48 (Mount Whitney) and the lowest point in North America (Badwater) from the summit. I'm still not sure if this will be a week of dayhikes from a base camp, or if we'll throw an overnighter in the mix. Water sources are a bit of a limiting factor.
